Meadowbrook Christian School Wish Lists 

2009-10          

 

We asked the teachers and staff what they needed and/or dreamed of to help them serve our students better. This is what they said:

 

Playground:

One junior size soccer goal. Can be handmade out of PVC pipe, if someone would like to build it. Provided!

 

Preschool

All:  five foot step ladder. Paper cutter - provided, preschool swings - provided, playground mulch - provided.

Daycare: 5 shelf cabinet- 8’ X 4’, colored and white poster board, moveable eyes, glitter, other craft items. Craft items - provided

K4: 36” wooden bookcase with adjustable shelves, 2 dz. Wipe-off trend jumbo crayons, 16 sets of Crayola write-start colored pencils - provided, 16 sets crayola no drip paint brush pens - 8 sets provided, various supplies for arts and craft projects, AA and AAA batteries, hanging big book easel - provided.

K5: Bible character felt pieces and backgrounds, 18 count colored dry erase markers, a second 18-24 slot mailbox (each slot 9” X 2 ½”)

 

Elementary

Volunteer opportunities:

  • Tear out tests and work pages for third grade
  • Come do science experiments, teach worship dance, lead singing and motion songs, share your expertise in your area of passion (i.e. gardening, animal care, civil war, PA history) with fourth grade.

All: Overhead projector, laptop, Smart board

1st grade: Posters about Christian character, upbeat children’s Christian Praise CDs for Bible time, pack of 30 pencil grips [for proper finger placement – available at teachers’ supply stores.]

2nd grade: Prizes for prize box, Christian Bible CDs, Hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes

4th grade: pump for 10 gal. fish aquarium, inexpensive binoculars, butterfly treehouse, bird seed for bird feeder, filter - provided 

Elem. Library:  Easel with Magnetic dry erase / flannel board, Magazine subscriptions:

            (3) subscriptions to Clubhouse magazine, (3) subscriptions to Clubhouse Jr. magazine,   (See  the Library webpage for        ordering information)

 

High School

Volunteer opportunities:

  • Parent partner to co-advise (with Mr. Forsythe) the middle school and high school Envirothons. Filled
  • Grocery Shoppers for Family & Consumer Science supplies, extra help with big projects like Christmas cookie baking. Filled
  • Speakers & Demonstrators for a variety of sports for Phys Ed classes. (ex. Bucknell Lacrosse came last year.)
  • Oversee a specific activity for Thurs. activity period. (Mrs. Lauri Shaffer did card stamping last year)

Science: 4 microscopes, white board to replace chalkboard, refrigerator - provided

Yearbook:  2 Digital SLR Cameras

Phys. Ed:  40’ X 40’ Wrestling mat –  for wrestling and judo

Family & Consumer Science: Set of knives, gift cards for groceries, WalMart gift cards, Belgium waffle maker, Baking supplies (sugar, flour, etc)

Spanish: 24 Spanish NIV [Nueva Version Internacional] Bibles - provided

Art: Outdoor paints, pressure treated plywood for murals - 8' X 6'

HS Library: Magazine subscriptions:  “Ignite Your Faith”, “Every Day With Rachel Ray”, “Instructor”, “Mailbox – Grade 1”, “Mailbox – Grade 2-3”, “Mailbox – Intermediate” (See the Library webpage for ordering information)

 

Schoolwide Needs

Nursing Office: Adult and Childrens' Ibuprofen,Tylenol, Anbesol, and Benadryl(pills and liquid). TUMS or Rolaids, cough drops,  Peroxide, Rubbing Alcohol, and cotton balls.  New or gently used Audiometer for Hearing screenings, Vision screener.

Cafeteria: Hot pads & oven mitts, wooden spoons and spatulas, Heavy duty commercial can opener for #10 cans,  2 large electric roasters, electric frying pan, electric carving knife - provided, Stainless steel cooler/frig with glass door, Large stock pots with lids, walk-in freezer, 2 new microwaves - provided

Office:  Laser Ink Jet Printer

Development office: (5) Thumb Drives / 4 GB

After-school Study Hall: A locking cabinet for toys and equipment
